The Gurugram-based Crofarm started out via a B2B model in 2016 to improve the supply chain for fresh fruits and vegetables, and pivoted to a B2B2C model (Otipy) in 2020, seeking to ensure that farm produce reaches consumers within 12 hours of harvest, with its freshness being preserved. “Procuring fruits and vegetables directly from farmers, we take the help of local community leaders, who work with us as delivery partners/resellers, to offer doorstep delivery to consumers,” says Varun Khurana, founder & CEO.

Half of young French consumers 'pessimistic' about spending power, E.Leclerc says
With inflation on the rise, half of French consumers (49%) aged between 18 and 30 are pessimistic about their purchasing power, a new study by retailer E.Leclerc has found. The l'Observatoire E.Leclerc des Nouvelles Consommations (E.Leclerc Observatory of New Consumption) report found that close to one in three young people regularly skip meals because they can't afford to eat, while 26% of university students have a budget of €10 or less to spend on food per week.

Bubble bursts for rapid food delivery as UK firms shed workers
Major European operator Gorillas, fuelled by millions of dollars of venture capital, has reduced its UK workforce and withdrawn from five British towns and cities, including Manchester and Nottingham. On-demand grocer Getir, backed by Abu Dhabi sovereign wealth fund investors and valued at more than the Morrisons supermarket chain, has put some of its UK stores into “hibernation” and reduced employee numbers, following a restructure. Meanwhile, its London-based rival, Zapp, has cut its workforce by 10% and pulled out of Bristol, Cambridge and Manchester.
