September 7-9th in Compiègne (France)

Syngenta Bean Event: three days of discussions on bean cultivation

The Bean Event organized by Syngenta will take place from September 7th to 9th in Compiègne, France. Three days of visits, conferences and discussions around the cultivation of beans, for the processing and fresh markets at the European level. The topics that will be discussed include: trends on the European bean market, Syngenta’s breeding program and new technologies.

In 2018, Syngenta organized an event around the cultivation of peas which brought together more than 150 European clients and received excellent feedback. On the same scale, this year’s Bean Event should bring together nearly 100 people from across Europe, Africa and the Middle East (EAME).

“The cultivation of beans is facing many challenges. Syngenta wants to stand by the professionals in order to bring them sustainable solutions. Just as we did for the pea event 4 years ago, we want to discuss these many challenges faced by professionals in the EAME region,” explains Eric Parmentier.

“On the second day, we will devote an entire morning to the presentation of the challenges faced by seed companies (Syngenta point of view), by producers (Grilli Clarice in Italy and FPEAK in Kenya), by processing plants (Bonduelle), retailers (Auchan) and consumers (Charity Food Waste Free United).”

This second day will end with a “brainstorming session” during which 10 groups will be able to discuss the challenges presented and the needs to be met in the middle and long term for each domain. The third day will be spent with visits to the fields in the town of Roye.
