The lightest scale on the market by Rescina Service

A scale designed for workers in the fields

Named Karmen, this is a scale for carrying out packing directly in the field and is the lightest and handiest on the market to date. The equipment has an aluminum platform that reaches a weight of 3.1 kg (the previous model weighed about 5 kg), and a height of 7 cm, with a battery life of more than 100 hours of work.

"With Karmen, therefore, it is possible to weigh fruit and vegetable boxes directly in the field, thus avoiding double handling of fruit and reducing packaging costs. An ideal scale for grapes and compatible with any type of mobile stand, it is well suited to other items as well. Robustness, lightness, reliability, practicality and ease of use are the main features, which from the beginning have allowed the appreciation and satisfaction of customers, but especially of the the actual users, namely the women engaged in harvesting operations," said Giuseppe Rescina of Rescina Service, a company in Noicattaro (Bari) that patented this scale.

"We are at the peak of sales. Since the beginning of the grape campaign, we have delivered more than 200 pieces between Apulia, Sicily, Spain and Morocco, but we believe we will easily succeed in exceeding 350 scales sold until early October. Usually, companies that decide to buy this equipment do not plan to buy it in advance. That is why we prefer to have ready-to-use scales in stock," continued the entrepreneur.

Among the priorities of every employer is also to improve the well-being of its employees, thereby decreasing fatigue and increasing motivation and productivity. "In and of itself, working in agriculture is very exhausting, as it requires physical endurance. Every company should contribute to improve conditions in the workplace. We get feedback from female workers who, having worked with old scales all the time, have suffered serious musculoskeletal consequences. Equipping the employee with a lightweight and practical tool, also suitable for moving between rows, is the least a careful entrepreneur can do."

Rescina Service will trade-in old scales (even those that are not working), thus offering a twofold benefit, namely savings on the purchase of the new product and a contribution to the safeguarding of the planet.
