Orders of Italian plums are not too bad, although starting quotations are similar to last year.
"Compared with the previous season, only small increases have been detected (+10-15%) that do not cover the general price changes. It is a moment of uncertainty, so we are pleased with the dozens of pallets leaving for the Italian and European markets every morning," reports Francesca Gallicchio, administrator of Gallicchio Frutta in Scanzano Jonico.
"Sales of the TC Sun variety are coming to an end. Fruits have a yellow flesh with a yellow-golden peel and grades have been small this year. In September, we will continue with well-known cultivar Angeleno, which will be available until early October. Expectations seem satisfactory for this well-known and profitable variety, especially if we consider quantities and grades. We are hoping things will go well also on a commercial level."

With the end of the summer holidays, urban areas come back to life and logistic platforms start working more gradually increasing their requests.
"Already this week, we have noticed a marked increase in orders, around 30% more than 7 days ago. Our plums are among the favorite seasonal products and are sent to both Italian general markets from Turin to Catania as well as to domestic and foreign distribution platforms in Germany, Poland, Slovenia, Romania and Estonia in particular. While European buyers tend to favor quality over grades, Italian buyers focus on both."
