UK vegetable grower: Turnover remained above pre-pandemic levels

Lincolnshire vegetable grower Keepstem supplies major retailers across the UK. Apparently, its turnover remained above pre-pandemic levels during its latest financial year. Keepstem, which owns Lincolnshire Field Products, has posted a turnover of £54.4 mln for the year to 29 January 2022, down from £55.8 mln in 2021. Pre-tax profits went from £400,845 to £15,330 over the same period.

A statement said: "Following three successive years of unpredictable weather that had a significant impact on the group, in 2021 we avoided any of the climatic extremes that adversely impacted on crop production.”

"In 2020, the Covid-19 lockdowns had led to increased demand for our products. In 2021, as restrictions were lifted, we saw at first a levelling out and then a slight reduction in turnover in the period under review. Total turnover was 2.5 per cent down on the previous period but remains 5.2 per cent better than pre-Covid levels.”
