Avocado exports not doing as well

Peru: Exports of grapes and blueberries to exceed US $ 1.000 million

For this year, Peruvian exports of agricultural products are expected to total US$9.700 billion, an increase of close to 10% compared to 2021, according to projections by the Association of Agricultural Producers Guilds of Peru. Only in the category of fruits and vegetables, exports would go from US$ 4.970 million last year to US$ 5.400 million in 2022, explained Gabriel Amaro, executive director of the union.

Grape and blueberry exports will continue to be at the top in terms of the products that would generate the most money and would exceed -once again- US$ 1.000 million. However, this is not the case for avocados.

The avocado is already finishing its season (August). Last year, US$ 1.049 million of that fruit were exported, but this year, unfortunately, US$ 1.000 million would not be reached. In fact, last year -as of June- US$628 million were sold, but in the first half of this year it stood at US$518 million.
