The La Libertad region exported 574 million dollars in agricultural products in the first half of 2022. This figure meant 19% more compared to the same period in 2021, according to the report from the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur).
The report reveals that this growth is mainly due to the good performance of the blueberry, a fruit that is considered a superfood and is highly valued abroad. The plant is planted and harvested mainly in the lands of influence of the Chavimochic Special Project.
Blueberry exports grew by 118% compared to the previous year after reaching 101 million dollars. Another product that registered a significant increase is asparagus, a product that reached 101 million exports, 6% more than the previous year.
However, avocado exports recorded a 7% decline. Only 118 million were exported, a figure lower than the 127 million reported in the same period in 2021.
