This week, Eagle Eye Produce will start shipping a new crop of yellow, red and white onions from its facilities in Western Idaho and Eastern Oregon and new crop russet, red and yellow potatoes from its packing facilities in Idaho and Washington.
It’s harvest season again for Eagle Eye Produce onion growers in the sunny, fertile Snake River Valley of Idaho and Eastern Oregon and harvest will continue into late September. Also, over the next few months, Eagle Eye growers will harvest thousands of acres of Idaho® potatoes along with thousands of acres from key growing areas in Washington.
Eagle Eye Produce is starting shipping new crop yellow, red and white onions from Western Idaho and Eastern Oregon and new crop russet, red and yellow potatoes from Idaho and Washington.
“We’re happy that even though the growing season was not ideal, our growers faced the challenges head-on and turned out some quality onions,” said Jason Pearson, onion commodity sales manager. “With the cool, wet spring, peak sizing will trend smaller and yields will be impacted slightly. But expect great quality this season.”
“Due to a cool, wet start to the growing season, we are a bit delayed starting potato harvest. But the crop looks very good and there is a tremendous amount of demand built up due to the short supply year we are transitioning from,” said Coleman Oswald, director of sales. “Overall acreage is down due to limitations with irrigation water and increased input costs for growers and packers. We anticipate slightly smaller size profiles and a bit lighter yield, but overall, we are very pleased with the quality.”

Eagle Eye Produce’s teams in Washington are also currently hard at work harvesting their red and yellow onion crops. White onion harvest will start in the coming weeks.
To prepare for the upcoming potato crop, the shipper has built new state-of-the-art storage facilities and invested further into its packing facilities with state-of-the-art equipment, technology and automation. It has also bolstered its supply of red and yellow Idaho potatoes with increased acreage as consumer demand continues to rise. It will also offer a wide array of retail and foodservice pack styles under several of its brands with the option for private labels.
Due to a cool, wet start to the growing season, the start of potato harvest is a bit delayed.
Eagle Eye Produce has also added to its retail offering, now packing everything from 2lb to 50lb onion packs. It offers a premium year-round supply of yellow, red, and white onions marketed under several of its brands with the option for private labels.
