Imported fruits enter the adjustment period during the off-season

In July, the transaction volume and value of imported fruits in the Haiguangxing Fruit Trading Center decreased by 3.81% and 3.63% respectively year-on-year. The average price was 22.54RMB/kg, a year-on-year increase of 0.19%. Among them, pitaya ranks first in sales. At this time of year, it is a concentrated market period for pitaya, so it also ushered in the peak sales season.

Because of the large volume, the price is relatively affordable, with an average price of 7.95RMB/kg with a year-on-year decrease of 21.01%. Imported pitaya is mainly from Vietnam. In terms of varieties, the sweet and fleshy red pitaya is more popular with consumers. The sales volume is nearly four times higher than that of the white ones, and the average price is 9.12RMB/kg.

Followed by durian, the transaction volume and value in July increased by 14.89% and 15.90% respectively year-on-year. The price was 41.44RMB/kg, the same as last year. China's durian market is booming, attracting major durian-producing countries. It is reported that since the price of mangosteen is less attractive than that of durian, there has been a wave of cutting down mangosteen trees and replanting durian in Thailand.

In recent years, the purchase price of Thai mangosteen has fluctuated significantly. In July, the transaction volume and value of mangosteen in Haiguangxing Trading Center decreased by 51.56% and 58.19% year-on-year respectively, and the average price was 23.08RMB/kg, a year-on-year decrease of 13.69%. Analysis of the reasons: Thai mangosteen growers have faced many problems in the past few years, such as the unstable market of mangosteen, the lowering of prices by middlemen, the rising cost of picking workers, the obstruction of fruit exports, and the lack of processing factories.

In addition, the market is looking forward to the new season of Rockit apples to open up a new situation in the sales of imported apples. On July 22, the opening ceremony of the first launch of the New Zealand Rockit Apple which is co-branded with Minions was held at the Jiaxing Haiguangxing Fruit Trading Center.

In the first half of 2022, the transaction volume of imported apples had already reached 146 containers. In July, the transaction volume and value of imported apples increased by 37.99% and 13.74% respectively year-on-year, and the average price was 20.52RMB/kg, a year-on-year decrease of 17.58%. It can be seen that the imported apples, especially the high-quality apples from New Zealand, are gradually being recognized and loved by the mass of consumers in the Chinese market.

As the temperature continues to rise, coconut has once again become a popular product in the fresh fruit and beverage market. Coconut juice is sweet and not greasy, known as "the drink that grows on the tree", and is a good choice for summer drinks. Consumers' pursuit of beverages is no longer limited to healthy nutrition, but also natural and fresh. In 2021, the total scale of China's raw coconut imports increased by 37.4% year-on-year. In July this year, the transaction volume and value of imported coconuts in the market increased by 92.36% and 59.10% year-on-year respectively, and the average price was 8.63RMB/kg, a year-on-year decrease of 17.29%. This shows that the market demand is growing. As a natural drink, coconut water is gradually being known and recognized for its quick hydration and nutritional value. Coconut water also enjoys the reputation of "water of life". The electrolytes it contains can replenish body water, and it has developed into a huge market with rich product diversity, and the coconut market will maintain a steady upward trend in the next few years.
