In the domestic market , sales grew 50% in the same period, according to Cooperativa Agroindustrial de Carlópolis (Coac). The numbers reflect the visibility and notoriety achieved by producers with the Geographical Indication (GI) and the Global GAP certification
England, Portugal, Canada and the Middle East are the main export destinations. Certified guava producer and sales manager at Coac, Inês Yumiko Sato Sasaki, says sales would have been even higher if production had not been affected by the weather.
Inês says that the commercialization is being supported by the producers who were not affected. On average, the cooperative has exported, through traders, three tons of guava per week. Until March, the average quantity reached five tons, however, the demand decreased after the beginning of the war between Russia and Ukraine.
