HDPE geomembranes by Agriplast Spa

Fighting drought with artificial reservoirs

The increase in average temperatures and the lack of rain in the past few months is causing a serious water crisis throughout Italy. The agricultural sector is one of the worse affected, especially where productions have dropped due to the lowering level of lakes and rivers.

The problem is made worse by the infrastructural deficiencies of the water system and the lack of basins for the storage of rainwater. For this reason, the building and improvement of public infrastructure such as pipes and dams will be essential over the next few years.

Company reservoirs will be just as important, as they are currently the only structures that can ensure the supply of water to agricultural businesses.

An ideal product for this purpose are HDPE (high-density polyethylene) geomembranes, which are characterized by an exceptional durability, excellent mechanic characteristics and great photooxidative resistance. The product, which is produced by Agriplast, is called Geoline and boasts excellent weldability, which is essential to reduce content dispersion to the minimum, not to mention it takes little time to set up.

Geoline is ideal to make reservoirs because it guarantees better performance at a reduced price compared with similar products.

Geoline is available in a vast range of versions with different thicknesses (0.5 to 3 mm), colors and finishes to improve its adherence to the ground.

Agriplast is a leader in the production of plastic materials and films for agriculture and, thanks to its state-of-the-art systems, delivery is swift. This aspect should not be underestimated, considering the current situation of drought.
