In the first half of the year, Peruvian mango shipments fell by 3% in volume, totaling 238,578 tons. However, their value increased by 1% totaling 344 million dollars thanks to the price they reached in international markets, which stood at 1.44 dollars per kilogram.
The United States was the main destination with a 31% share. Peru exported 74,880 tons for 108 million dollars (-9% in volume and -2% in value compared to the first half of last year). The average price was 1.44 dollars (+7% compared to 2021). The main Peruvian exporters to the US was VirĂº S.A., with a 9.4% share, followed by Gandules Inc. S.A.C., with a 9% share.
The Netherlands had a 25% stake with the acquisition of 78,368 tons for 87 million dollars (-4% in volume and -7% in value). In addition, the price fell by 4% to $1.11 per kilogram. Exports to the Netherlands were led by Camposol S.A., with a 9.1% share, and Dominus S.A.C., with 8.7%.
The third most important destination for Peruvian mango was South Korea, with an 8% share. Exports to that destination totaled 9,523 tons for 26 million dollars, i.e. 19% more volume, and 23% more value than in the first half of 2021. The fruit was traded at 2.78 dollars per kilogram, 3% more than in the previous year. The main exporting companies for this destination were Del Ande Alimentos S.A.C. with 12% participation, and Sobifruits S.A.C., with 10%.
