Matt Palise, - Red Rich Fruits

Australian Kensington Pride mangoes out of Darwin have landed at the Sydney wholesale markets

The first of this season’s Australian Kensington Pride mangoes, grown by Red Rich Fruits out of Darwin, have landed at the Sydney wholesale markets.

“The season in Darwin is a bit later this year, the cold weather arrived later than usual, however we managed to get really good fruit set in the end,” said Matt Palise, Red Rich Fruits Managing Director.

“We're expecting volumes of around 150,000 trays of Kensington Pride mangoes across our four farms in the Darwin region.”

The fruit is particularly round this year and a good size, the KP Mango farms had a lot of new flowering and fruit set was good in the end which bodes well for a long mango season for Darwin, heading well into late October, possibly even early November.

“The fruit is rounder due to abnormal weather conditions, the shape varies each year depending on the weather that we have experienced during the growing season.”

Rich Red Fruits sell the entire crop through the Australian domestic market.
