Mumbai's vegetable supply comes majorly from Nasik, Pune, Kolhapur, Sangli and other places in western Maharashtra and Karnataka. Owing to the incessant rains across Maharashtra in the last week, the supply of vegetables has gone down while prices have increased in Mumbai. However, if reports are to believed, the price of vegetables is likely to increase in the coming days if the rains fail to subside.
According to sources, the overall supply of vegetables in wholesale market dropped by 40 per cent at the Agriculture Produce Market Committee (APMC) in Navi Mumbai. As on Friday, there was only an increase in the prices of leafy vegetables by around 20 per cent. In a relieving news, the rains did subside over the weekend.
