De Jong Packaging Group acquires Wellpappenfabrik GmbH in Grünstadt-Sausenheim

The Wellpappenfabrik GmbH in Grünstadt-Sausenheim (WSG) and Dutch De Jong Packaging Group (DJPG) from De Lier have come to a strategic partnership. DJPG has acquired a majority share of WSG, which will keep control over the daily operations. Because of the acquisition, DJPG will strengthen its position in the German market, and WSG will have a stronger position in the German market with the backup from DJPG.

WSG offers a complete range of customer-specific packaging and has a central location and therefore fits very well in the growth strategy of DJPG. “The new partnership with WSG is a big step for our development as a packaging group. The entrepreneurial philosophy of our family companies match, and the future potential is there,” as stated by Ad Smit, CEO of DJPG.

Axel Muhl, Managing Director of WSG, follows: “I am delighted that we have come together with De Jong Packaging Group. Their business philosophy and our shared values will ensure our common goals are achieved. From my first meeting with Henk De Jong, the owner of De Jong Packaging Group, and Ad Smit, it was clear that we would develop a trusting relationship that would be to the benefit of all our valued customers and also both parties.”

The transaction is subject to the approval of the local competition and consumer authorities.
