60th anniversary of the Hamburg wholesale market - Good mood, staff shortage and inflation

Upswing after two years of the pandemic

In keeping with the 60th anniversary of the Hamburg wholesale market, we paid a visit to the institution in the Hammerbrook district. After two years of pandemic, the local traders are in good spirits again, even if - as usual - there is a certain lull in consumption during the vacation season.

As with virtually all other businesses along the production and supply chain, there is an acute shortage of staff at many retailers.

On the other hand, the continued abundant supply of various stone fruits, berries, European grapes, vegetables such as peppers and salads is encouraging.

In the following days you will find on FreshPlaza.de interviews with individual companies as well as with the managing director of the wholesale market, Eliane Steinmeyer.
