Santa Catarina fruit growing accounts for an annual turnover of R$ 1.6 billion

Fruit growing in Santa Catarina accounts for an estimated annual turnover of R$ 1.6 billion (€288,000 mln). More than 13,000 producers occupy 54,000 hectares. Orchards are spread across all regions of the state. Apples, bananas, grapes, citrus, passion fruit, and stone fruits such as peach, plum and nectarine dominate fruit production in Santa Catarina.

The West region is responsible for more than 3,900 fruit growers. The activity is developed mainly in domestic orchards, adding value to the agricultural activity that commands agribusiness in the west of Santa Catarina.

Commercial orange cultivation in the west of Santa Catarina reaches 76% of the production area of ​​the entire state. Viticulture, on the other hand, represents 17% of the regional area and 28% of the total produced in the entire territory of Santa Catarina. The western tangerine orchards represent 15% of the state's production.
