The French Potato Interprofessional (CNIPT) reported in its latest bulletin that the French potato export season in the 2021/2022 campaign has been generally positive. Exports peaked from November to December and from March to April and volumes increased by 19% and 12%, respectively, over the average of the same periods of the 3 previous campaigns, according to Customs.
In the fresh market, the countries of Central and Eastern Europe are responsible for a significant share of growth. With 256,014 tons purchased from August to the end of April 2022, sales increased by 175% compared to 2020-2021. The main reasons for this growth are the low harvests, poor quality, and lower competition from Germany.
