CMA CGM Group has decided to implement targeted measures to contribute to the effort to moderate consumer prices for French households, in consultation with the Ministry of the Economy, Finance and Industrial and Digital Sovereignty, which will ensure that these measures are reflected in the prices of products purchased by French consumers. These measures will come into effect on August 1, 2022, for one year.
Mainland France: lower freight rates for the main imported products purchased by French households
CMA CGM Group is ready to grant its distribution customers a €500 reduction per 40-foot container for consumer goods imported via French ports. This measure must be accompanied by these retailers to maximize the impact and ensure an effective reduction in the price of consumer goods. This reduction represents nearly a 10% cut in the freight rate.
French overseas territories
The CMA CGM Group has also decided to apply a freight rate reduction of €500 for a 40-foot container for all of the imports it handles in the French overseas territories. This reduction represents between 10 and 20% of the freight rate depending on the destination.
The State will be able to control the consumer prices of products (food products, personal hygiene, cleaning products, and small household equipment) via the Quality/Price Shield (BQP).
This measure comes on top of the CMA CGM Group's decision to apply a freeze on freight rates on French overseas territories since May 2021.
