Rob van der Weele: "Customers like it and its different colors"

New cardboard packaging for The Greenery's soft fruit and fruit-vegetables

Red, yellow, green, pink, and purple. The Greenery's new, colorful cardboard packaging is here. This new house-style packaging line, developed in consultation with The Greenery growers, is now available for fruit-vegetables and soft fruits.

For fruit-vegetables, this new packaging is available for tomatoes, cucumbers, bell peppers, eggplants, zucchini, and specialties (chilies). A new packaging line with a punnet and outer box has also been developed for strawberries, blackberries, raspberries, and redcurrants - the soft fruit. These will be put into operation on inflow; the existing stock must be used up first.

Less plastic
Later, the labels, top fruit and asparagus cover sheets, and rhubarb boxes will be renewed too. Cardboard box cards will replace the top fruit cover sheets. The advantage of this is that considerably less plastic will be used.

Katinka Bijl, product marketeer, The Greenery: "We changed the packaging design. Combining strong colors and line drawings of the product ensures better recognition. The new packaging line helps The Greenery position itself even more strongly in the market towards customers, including those from abroad. Our distribution center is also pleased with the new packaging; the clearly recognizable colors help with rapid product processing."

Recognizable packaging line
The market has reacted enthusiastically. "Clients like it and its different colors," says Rob van der Weele, senior soft fruit product manager, The Greenery. "It's a recognizable line with a fresh look. The concept's overall uniformity makes this packaging from The Greenery more recognizable."

Leon Duijvestijn, The Greenery's fruit-vegetables sourcing manager, adds: "It was time to update our packaging. We opted for a fresh layout and recognition of The Greenery's brand for all product groups. The new packaging was created in consultation with our growers and in collaboration with a marketing agency. Initial reactions have been positive."
