E-commerce platforms impact traditional sales models, with online transaction volume reaching about 20%

At present, it is the peak season of the fruit market, with a wide range of varieties. China is a big country in fruit production and consumption. With the improvement in people's living standards, fruit production capacity has steadily increased in recent years. Relevant data predict that the national fruit output in 2022 will be 299 million tons, an increase of 2% over the previous year, and the fruit planting area and output is expected to increase steadily. To sum up, the supply of fruit this year is sufficient, the price of fruit in June mainly fell seasonally, and the market was stable but weak during the concentrated market period.

The traditional circulation links rely on wholesale and retail, of which the fruit wholesale market is an important distribution platform. The current development of community group buying and fresh e-commerce has greatly impacted the sales of fruit retail stores. Online direct sales make fruits reach consumers faster, save intermediate links, and increase the benefits for fruit farmers, but the quality loss in the delivery process is still a problem that cannot be ignored.

In response to the transportation problem that restricts the development of rural e-commerce, it has been clarified in the national plan that by the end of 2022, the direct delivery service will be basically popularized at the administrative village level, which will play a positive role in the development of fruit e-commerce.

In May, the price of fresh fruit rose by 19% year-on-year, affecting the CPI rise by about 0.36%. Since June, with large volumes of fruits on the market, citizens have been enthusiastic about purchasing and both supply and demand are booming. Under the premise of sufficient supply, it is expected that the year-on-year increase in fresh fruit prices will be reduced in June.

From the era of material scarcity to the era of material excess, consumers have higher requirements for fruits and vegetables, and pay more attention to taste and nutrition. With the implementation of RCEP and the Comprehensive Agreement on Investment between China and the EU, the imported fruit market has continued to expand, and the rise of the post-90s and post-00s consumers will further promote innovation and improvement in the distribution of fruits.
