Extenda promotes the marketing of Andalusian berries in the Middle East and Europe

Extenda-Andalusia Export and Foreign Investment organized a reverse mission with companies from the United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom within the framework of the 7th International Berry Congress.

Extenda pays special attention to promoting the internationalization of the berry sector, an effort that translates both in the design of new promotional actions and support to companies, as well as in its direct collaboration to organize this congress. In this sense, the public company has invited to the event leading professionals in the sector with whom it has held an inverse mission to connect the Andalusian offer with several destinations of interest.

This has allowed the Andalusian professionals of the sector that have been present at the congress to contact representatives of two leading distribution companies -Trading from the United Arab Emirates, and Smith & Son Ltd from the United Kingdom- who have presented the opportunities offered by their respective markets for Andalusian berries, which can increase their diversification in the Middle East with the former company, and strengthen their position in Europe with the latter.

The Andalusian companies had the opportunity to hold b2b meetings with the international guests of both companies after their participation in the conference panel of the congress. Five of the six participating firms come from Huelva, while one of them is based in Seville. This action by Extenda will be co-financed with funds from the European Union through the ERDF O.P. of Andalusia 2014-2020, with a Community contribution of 80%, or any other European Programme eligible to co-finance this action.

"Huelva is undoubtedly the epicenter of the activity of the berries sector, with international sales of 1,233 million in 2021, i.e. 12.2% more than in 2020," stated the CEO of Extenda, Arturo Bernal.

"The sector has no ceiling and after achieving such good numbers last year, it continues to grow in 2022. In the first four months of the year, Huelva's berries exports have increased by 19.1%, to 802 million, a record figure for this period accounting for almost 80% of all Spanish sales," Bernal stressed. "This is an incentive to continue working to strengthen Andalusia's and Huelva's leadership. To do this, Extenda wants to be a strategic partner of companies in the sector that want to make the leap or strengthen their positioning in international markets," he added.
