Technicians from the Agricultural Defense Agency of the State of Pará (Adepará) are setting out on an educational action with the purpose of making the population aware of the risks of entering the star fruit fly in Pará territory. Bactrocera carambolae is considered the greatest threat to national fruit production as it attacks 30 different species of fruit.
The educational activity will consist of approaching passengers, especially those arriving in Pará from the state of Amapá and also those who will be moving from Amapá to cities in Marajó. Adepará's inspectors will work to raise awareness, raise awareness and provide clarification on combat and prevention actions, current legislation, transit of host fruits, economic damage and the social problems generated by the plague, in addition to distributing educational material.
