Grup Cooperatiu Fruits de Ponent and Cajamar sign an alliance that will offer special financing for varietal reconversion projects

Agreement to promote varietal modernization

The agreement will allow Grup Cooperatiu and its agricultural producer partners to benefit from lines of financing under preferential conditions to carry out varietal reconversion projects and thus make the qualitative leap necessary to continue offering the best products to the markets. For its part, Cajamar cooperative banking will also provide Fruits de Ponent with a series of services and products to optimize its capacity for saving, investment and internationalization.

With this alliance, Cajamar is again showing its commitment to the agro-food sector, and specifically to cooperatives, providing producers with special lines of financing that will allow them to introduce new farming techniques and technological, organizational and market innovations to make their activity profitable and contribute to their modernization.

The president of Grup Cooperatiu Fruits de Ponent, Benjamí Ibars, expressed his satisfaction with the agreement, stating that it is in line with the Group's philosophy when it comes to providing its members with tools to improve their business activity. "Agreements of this kind make it possible for our growers to adapt their farms and be ready to face the market's newest challenges, allowing them, for example, to make the switch to fruit varieties meeting current demands."

For his part, the territorial director of Cajamar in Catalonia, Martin Tomas, said that "with this agreement, the cooperative bank is offering all members of Fruits de Ponent a wide range of services and products with which to modernize their farms and make new investments, which will result in improvements in their profitability and competitiveness."

This is not the first time that Cajamar and Grupo Cooperativo Fruits de Ponent have carried out joint projects. In 2018, both entities signed an agreement to facilitate generational replacement in the sector through modernization plans and access to new agronomic technologies.
