In the first four months of this year, nearly 20,000 tons of fruit were imported

Ningbo port fruit imports hit a record high in April

With the improvement of living standards, imported fruits have become an important source and supplement of fruit diversification in China, and are increasingly favored by consumers.

On May 17, Ningbo Customs released data showing that from January to April this year, Ningbo port imported a total of 19,000 tons of various fruits with a value of 140 million RMB, an increase of 438.6% and 81.9% over the same period last year. Especially in April, Ningbo port imported 14,000 tons of fruit, a year-on-year increase of 10.4 times, and the monthly fruit import volume reached a record high.

"The location advantage of Ningbo port is obvious. The Jiaxing fruit market, known as 'the first fruit market in East China', is close to Ningbo, and the traffic is very convenient. After customs clearance, imported fruits can quickly enter the market for sale. In addition, Ningbo port has high customs clearance efficiency and good business environment, so many customers will choose to import fruits from Ningbo port.” Cai Bona said, manager of COSCO SHIPPING Logistics (Ningbo).

The import and export trade between China and Southeast Asian countries has been effectively supported by RCEP, and the growth momentum is gratifying, which also promotes the substantial growth of imported fruits.

"The entry into force of RCEP has reduced the tariff on imported Southeast Asian fruits from 10% to 20% to 0%. Taking Vietnamese pitaya fruit as an example, after the tariff is reduced to zero, a single container can directly reduce the import tariff of 10,000 to 15,000 RMB, which greatly reduces the company's production and operation costs," reported Jianong Food Holding (Group) Co., Ltd.

According to statistics, from January to April this year, Vietnam’s fruit imports were eye-catching. The value of fruit imported at Ningbo port alone is 14,000 tons, accounting for 72.6% of the total imported fruit at Ningbo port. It is the largest source of imported fruit at Ningbo port.

At present, the customs clearance time for the whole process of imported fruit has been reduced to one week.
