The technical program of the 1st International Citrus Forum CITRUS FORUM is going to feature more than 40 expert speakers. The event will take place on June 21 and 22, 2022 at the ADDA Auditorium in Alicante, Spain (in person), and on the 23rd (100% online session).
The inaugural day (June 21) will start with a section devoted to pests and diseases, where topics such as strategies to combat the South African cotonet, applications of the Delottococcus aberiae sex pheromone, fungal problems caused by imports from third countries or the responsible use of acaricides will be discussed.
It will continue with a second section devoted to genetic improvement, in which there will be discussions on the Spanish varietal panorama, as well as on new varieties from research centers and companies. After lunch-networking, the afternoon of the first day will be devoted to new technologies and the post-harvest, with discussions on pathogen analysis by PCR, pest counting by biotechnological scanner, the control of citrus post-harvest diseases by new edible antifungal coatings, mechanized pruning or the use of drones and satellites in citriculture.
The second day (June 22) will start in the morning with the fourth section, devoted to nutrition and physiology. The topics addressed will include sustainability and efficiency in citrus fertilization, nutrition management, the use of biostimulants to protect the skin and improve the fruit's shelf life, enzymatic activities, biological alternatives to deal with fruit drop, vegetative development in citrus, suppressive soil or control techniques in flowering.
The day will end with the last section, dedicated to production and marketing, which will serve to discuss the situation of global citriculture, focusing also on the challenges for lemons in Spain, as well as the situation of the sector in Australia and South Africa.
The forum will continue on Thursday June 23 in a third day (100% online), which will address other issues of interest to the sector with expert speakers from Chile, Argentina and China, among other countries. The conference can be followed through the content platform specialized in the agro sector Agromunity.com, which has more than 12,000 registered agricultural professionals from Spain and Latin America.
The program features speakers from centers and organizations such as IFAPA, the Polytechnic University of Valencia, Ailimpo, Etsiam, SanLucar, UPCT, IVIA, Cooperativas Agroalimentarias de la Comunidad Valenciana , PGI Cítricos de Valencia, COIAL, Cirad, CEBAS-CSIC or Biovegen.
