South Korea introduces "One a Day Banana" approach

Smarter banana packaging means fruits are staggered by ripeness level

Bananas were none too common until recently in South Korea, as the nation doesn't have the climate to grow them. It wasn't until shipping links were set up with a Dole plantation in the Philippines that the fruit started to show up in Korean supermarkets.

However, Korean companies have invented packaging to ensure that the bananas will not be wasted. South Korea's SSG Market packages them like this:

The "One a Day Banana" packaging arrangement ensures less waste as compared to buying the fruits in a bunch that all go bad at the same time.
