Lucknow's Dussehri mango belt will see decreased yield this season

Sources from Malihabad - Lucknow's Dussehri mango belt - say the yield this season is likely to be much less than previous years. And it is not just Dussehris; the mango growers insist that the extreme April temperatures have taken a toll on all varieties.

The saving grace, however, is the quality of the fruit which is expected to be better because the yield is very less. "Since less yield means more nutrition for the surviving fruits, Dussehri is expected to be sweeter, juicier and bigger in size," said a mango grower.

Dussehri is expected to hit the market by the end of May or beginning of June. The price will be decided after the harvest and assessment of quality.
