Morocco’s General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) made on Wednesday what it described as a record drug bust, aborting an attempt to traffic more than 31 tons of cannabis in Tanger. The DGSN, in coordination with the police in Beni Maqada in Tanger, northern Morocco, found the drugs stuffed inside plastic fruit and vegetables, according to an official statement.
The police force carried out the operation in a warehouse located in the “Bdriyoun” area next to the Rabat Road on the outskirts of Tanger. Following an inspection of the warehouse, the police seized a large cooling trailer storing dozens of cannabis packs. The police found cannabis stuffed inside plastic vegetables and fruit indicating that the trafficking network was planning to traffic the drugs among agricultural produce, according to the DGSN.
