The spring orange is a popular domestic fruit in the Chinese market. Unlike most domestic oranges, which enter the market in the winter, spring oranges generally enter the market between late March and early April.
The spring orange is a late-season orange variety that blooms between March and April, and the oranges ripen in March or April of the subsequent year. Their growing period is exceptionally long. The oranges stay on the tree through the winter, which allows them to accumulate much more sugar than regular oranges. Spring oranges are thus much sweeter, and they are juicy as well. And that is why they are so popular in the Chinese market.
"The product quality of spring oranges is quite stable at the moment. Market conditions and product movements are smooth," said Mr. Zhou of Guangzhou True Enjoy Fruit Trade Co., Ltd. "This is the second round of the current retail season. The first round sold better. Spring oranges are popular in the Chinese market, and although the price is somewhat high, buyers compete to purchase them. Spring orange suppliers only need to make sure the flavor is good, and they will not have to worry about finding buyers. Our spring oranges come from orchards in Hubei and Chongqing. Among the domestic fruits we sell, spring oranges are the second-best selling fruits, right after blueberries."
"We use our own 'True Enjoy' brand to sell spring oranges. We also package the oranges in delicate gift boxes. We have small 2.5 kg boxes and larger 4.25 kg boxes. The latter sell for around 50 yuan [7.69 USD] per box."
Guangzhou True Enjoy Fruit Trade primarily sells domestic blueberries, Autumn Moon pears, Spring oranges, passion fruit, and blueberry grapes. All of them are packaged in delicate gift boxes.
