Extra-early potato production has increased by 3% in Spain

According to the latest area and production report of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAP), with data up to February 28, Spain produced 77,500 tons of extra-early potatoes, i.e. 2.9% more than in 2021, according to provisional data.

Estimates are tomato production in January-May would increase by 0.8% to 800,400 tons, mushrooms production would increase by 0.8% to 150,000 tons, the production of other funghi would total 17,200 tons (+1.1%), celery (119,300 tons, +7.4%), leek (82,400 tons, +6.2%), carrot (23,800 tons, +7.7%), eggplant (282,700 tons, +6%) and radish production would stand at 5,900, experiencing a 73.8% year-on-year increase.

In contrast, the first estimates reflect a 5.3% decrease in zucchini (630,600 tons), endives (78,000 tons, -7.4%), and green beans with pods (51,700 tons, -5.1%).

Strawberry production is estimated at 356,300 tons (-1.2%), raspberry production at 46,600 tons (-4.7%), and the Canary Islands' banana production at 399,400 tons (-4.3%).
