"The sales of mushrooms and bean sprouts are going very well at the moment," says Arno van den Oord of Champoord from Ammerzoden. "Demand is reasonably good and comes from all sides. We've had good Easter sales and all the mushrooms have gone up in price. We'll have to wait and see how the next few weeks unfold. Traditionally, these are more difficult weeks, but hopefully it won't be too bad. The availability is good."
Range of daily fresh mushrooms
Champoord offers a complete range of daily fresh mushrooms, mainly to supermarkets and wholesalers abroad. White mushrooms still make up the bulk of the range, but this is supplemented by chestnut mushrooms, oyster mushrooms, shiitake mushrooms and portobellos. In addition, the supply package includes wild mushrooms, such as girolles, pied de mouton, trompet de la mort and morels.
"The sales of bean sprouts are also continuing well. Due to the increased costs of energy, among other things, the price of the product has also gone up somewhat, but this does not hamper sales. Bean sprouts are used in many meals these days."
