Condichef launches its tears-free onion: France Sunions

“With Sunions®, no more tears when cutting your onions!”: that is the promise of the new onion that arrived in some French stores earlier this year.

“Innovating and expanding the condiment category have always been priorities at Condichef. When I came across this new variety of Sunions® onions abroad, I immediately wanted to test it in France. It is difficult to innovate within our range so Sunions® is a real innovation,” explains Tanguy Poupart, general director of the Condifresh Group.

This launch is the result of an exclusive cooperation agreement between Condichef and Vegetable Seeds (BASF). It is the opportunity to set up a strong “farm to table” partnership between the two companies. Grown from a variety of seeds of the Nunhems® range, the Sunions® are the result of over three decades of conventional breeding work for the seed company.

The Sunions® onions are currently available in a limited number of stores of the Paris region and southwestern France. “If they are a success, we plan to extend their distribution next year,” explains Olivier Cassou, sales manager France at Condichef.
