Supply of bananas in Yunnan is limited, imported bananas is in short supply

Recently, the overall volume of banana production in Yunnan has been limited and the sales have slowed down. In general, most of the banana production in Yunnan is about to enter the final stage, and there are not many high-quality fruits. Due to the impact of the pandemic, many producing areas have suspended trading for several consecutive days, which has brought greater pressure on banana farmers. Some agents said that they had stopped placing orders in Yunnan. Since the Hainan producing area is about to enter the market period for a large number of fruits, more and more merchants are going to Hainan to place orders.

At the same time, the price of bananas in Hainan has gone up and down, and merchants are actively inquiring, but most of the production areas have a small number of fruits. At present, the highest price of high-quality bananas in Hainan has risen to about 6.0 RMB/kg, and the price of high-quality bananas in some production areas has stabilized at about 5.2 RMB/kg. Some agents cannot accept the high price, and are temporarily reluctant to place orders.

In terms of imported bananas, Myanmar and Laos, the two major banana-producing areas abroad, have few high-quality products and are in short supply. Some agents estimate that the overall balance of the Lao production area is about 25%, and the overall balance of the Myanmar production area is about 25%-30%. Some growers said that merchants usually look at fruits on-site when taking orders. Recently, the high-quality bananas in Myanmar are about 5.0-5.2RMB/kg, and the lesser quality bananas from the last batches basically do not exceed 2.0RMB/kg; the agent in Laos said. Recently, the price of high-quality items in Laos has risen slightly, and the sales of goods in the past two days have also accelerated in relative terms.
