"We believe that carrying on with the strike would affect our farmers and exporters the most"

Thirty companies that transport fresh products from Almeria have signed a manifesto in which they announced that, despite supporting the sector's indefinite strike, they will continue to provide services to avoid affecting other sectors that have nothing to do with the demands of the strike.

"We fully share the demands of the strike but we believe that carrying on with the strike would affect our farmers and exporters the most," the letter states. Last week most carriers based in the West supported the strike on Monday and Tuesday, and march from El Ejido to Viator on Wednesday.

The transporters said they transported perishable food that depreciates very quickly and that they don't want to affect agricultural and livestock farms, as in other areas of Spain where, despite transporting essential goods, the carriers have not complied with their shipments.

The transporters said their intention was to continue providing the service that is expected of them to avoid compromising any vegetable cargo, as long as circumstances allow it.

The manifest was signed by the Europa-Sur; Logistica Hinojo; Salvador Hinojo; Murgi-Cargo, S. L.; Murgi Servicios Logisticos, S. L.; Transportes Euro Pérez, S. L.; Transportes Friojusan, S.
