Innovation Award 2022 nomination for home compostable fruit label

Sinclair is delighted to attend Fruit Logistica 2022 following the nomination of its Sinclair EcoLabel HOME™ - T50 fruit label for the prestigious Fruit Logistica Innovation Award 2022 (FLIA).

The Sinclair EcoLabel HOME - T50 fruit label is food-safe, plastic-free, partially bio-based and its entire construction is independently certified ‘OK compost - HOME’ (OKH – S0728) by TÜV AUSTRIA. The label construction is designed to be disposed of in a home compost where it will biodegrade into usable compost material within 365 days.*

Due to the materials required, and the environment in which it is applied, it has not been an easy development journey for Sinclair. The launch last year however means that its customers have a verified environmentally friendly fruit label to meet French home composting standard NF T 51-800, to comply with French law no. 2020-105 Article 80 and meet sustainability goals.

Sinclair's label construction is designed to be disposed of in a home compost where it will biodegrade into usable compost material within 365 days.

“We are committed to helping our customers improve the sustainability of their fruit labeling operations,” says Tim Watkins. “Labeling fruit and vegetables provides essential point-of-sale information for consumers and retailers. The information a label can provide helps to manage supply chain and can even help reduce waste. With the launch of our certified home compostable label we are proud to have developed new customer partnerships, Sinclair EcoLabel HOME - T50 has helped customers take another step forward to achieving their sustainability goals.”

Following the launch, Sinclair EcoLabel HOME - T50 orders for hand labeling bananas in Central America have grown. For Del Monte using Sinclair EcoLabel HOME – T50 has enabled its banana labeling program to meet French legislation (French law no. 2020-105 Article 80) and contribute towards the achievement of Del Monte’s sustainability goals to reduce plastics in its supply chain.

“Del Monte is one of the first major brands in France to offer this sustainable alternative on one of France’s favorite fruits,” says Eric Hellot, president and director of Del Monte France SAS.

Join Sinclair at Fruit Logistica 2022 5-7 April, Hall 4.1 stand G-08 to see its sustainable fruit label solutions.
