Great success for aromatic herb pots

Increased sales for an Apulian exporter

"Within hours of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, we saw an increase in orders from Poland and other foreign countries, such as the Baltics and Scandinavia. We have no major concerns about sales at the moment, even though there is tension and uncertainty in the European markets. Many people have flocked to the supermarkets to stock up on supplies, thus forcing the various large-scale retail chains to increase their orders, especially for vegetables," said Claudio D'Alba, CEO of Plantis Group, a company from Apulia that exports fruit and vegetables.

"The conflict in Eastern Europe has not hindered our daily business activities. We have very few business relations with Ukraine, as this country has always been considered an unattractive market for fruit and vegetable exports, due to a number of reasons, such as the difficult credit rating of customers with regard to payments and the risks of currency devaluations."

"We have seen a boom in demand over the last few days, especially for fennel, spring onions, carrots, lettuces, celery and parsley. In some cases, we have even seen orders triple, to the extent that we have only needed to allocate whole truckloads to certain customers who previously preferred a mixed pallet of different varieties. But this upward trend is not over yet and I believe it will continue in the coming months when, with the arrival of spring and the first exports, we usually see a traditional increase in consumption of Italian seasonal vegetables, which continues until the end of June,” continued the entrepreneur.

Aromatic herb pots

"We have also witnessed an extraordinary success with aromatic herb pots, such as rosemary, sage, thyme and oregano, where we noticed a strong interest from Scandinavian and Baltic retailers. European consumers use these plants, not only to add taste to their dishes, but also to decorate their gardens.
