Hazera's expanded its mini seedless watermelon portfolio with two new proprietary varieties: Exotica and 50041. Both varieties are characterized, mainly, by their firm and crispy meat, as well as their resistance during transport for export, even on long journeys. "They have an ideal behavior, which is far better than the one from the competition," the company stated.
According to the Almeria-based company, the development of Exotica and 50041 focused on offering producers all-year-round production, i.e. the ability to produce competitive watermelons that maintain the same internal and external quality parameters during all the months of the year, preventing exporting companies from losing market shares between May and September.
Exotica (50037) stands out for producing a uniform fruit that weighs around 2.5 kilos. It is very attractive to the senses thanks to its deep red flesh and crunchiness.
The 50041 variety's flesh is also deep red, crunchy, and firm; key characteristics to avoid losses in the handling and distribution processes. These two varieties are can be for the middle or somewhat later segments thanks to their fruit size and resistance to powdery mildew. They are an optimal option in these cycles and also for organic crops.
Exotica and 50041 complete Hazera's range of mini seedless watermelons, joining its Lynx and Ocelot seedless watermelons, which are already well-known by exporting producers and consumers in the Region of Murcia.
