The Rincón de Soto Pears PDO started the year with a valuable consumer recognition. Its pears have been distinguished with the 2022 Flavor of the Year award. This distinction recognizes the taste quality of the product.
The Flavor of the Year seal was created in 1995 and is present in various countries. It is very well known in the market and highly trusted by consumers and professionals in the food sector. A panel of 80 consumers evaluates the taste, appearance, smell, texture, and general satisfaction of different food products in a blind test where they are unaware of the product brands they are testing. The test is carried out by a sensory analysis lab that certifies the result at a national level.
This award consolidates Peras de Rincón de Soto's trajectory and its pears become a benchmark of quality in the fruit market. According to the president of the PDO, Eduardo Perez Malo, "this award reinforces Peras de Rincón de Soto's commitment to achieving the highest quality in each pear and rewards the PDO for its effort, work, and continuous innovation that characterize it.”
Peras de Rincón de Soto obtained the Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) distinction in 2002, becoming the first fruit of its kind to be awarded this distinction. The PDO, managed by its Regulatory Council, guarantees the quality and origin of the pears from this area. Peras de Rincon de Soto markets its pears in packages that are labeled with the “Peras de Rincón de Soto” brand.
