Brazilian watermelon exports ended 2021 at a good rate

In the exporting region of RN/CE, the watermelon harvest continues at full speed. Any phytosanitary problems observed are mild, contributing to maintain the average productivity around 35 t/ha.

According to data from Secex (Secretariat of Foreign Trade), since August/21, the beginning of the 2021/22 harvest season, just over 86,400 tons of the fruit have been exported, moving around R$38.4 million. The partial values ​​represent increases of 3% and 13%, respectively, when compared to the same period of the previous harvest, which was a record. If the pace of shipments remains similar to that of 2020/21, watermelon shipments are likely to set a record for another season.
