Krakos F1

BASF presents its new medium-cycle red California pepper with resistance to powdery mildew

BASF returns strongly to the pepper market with its Krakos F1 pepper. This medium-cycle red California pepper, which is transplanted from the first half of July, is resistant to powdery mildew and has a series of competitive advantages that can help producers improve the sustainability and profitability of their productions, stated David Murcia, Regional Crop Lead EMEA of BASF.

According to Murcia, this added value is based on three pillars. Krakos F1 grows on an open plant that helps optimize harvesting costs, as the fruit is perfectly visible for the harvesters, and helps the plants and fruits to be healthier. "The plant architecture of Krakos F1 favors better ventilation, helping to minimize fungal diseases, thus reducing the application of treatments needed."

"In addition, BASF's new red California stands out for its staggered production throughout the cycle, which allows producers to achieve competitive average prices throughout the entire commercial window in Almeria," Murcia stated. It also offers very attractive green and red quality fruits that have a uniform size (G) throughout the cycle.

Finally, Krakos F1 has a great regrowth capacity, which offers the farmer extra production at the end of the cycle.

BASF has returned to the pepper market with a very competitive variety, stated David Murcia. There's no doubt that Krakos F1 has come to win the market, he added.
