Swedish importer Ewerman has recently launched a new line of conventional bananas under the Daily Green brand. The company has been supplying organic and organic Fair Trade under the brand for sometime.
“The Daily Green bananas are ‘twice as good’,” explains Magnus Nilsson from the company. “We work in cooperation with Operation Smile, an organisation which helps children born with facial defects. For every container of bananas we bring into Sweden we pay for one operation on a child.”
Ewerman is part of the Green Food Group which owns Picadeli, which supplies salad bars to retailers; Food Solutions – supplying sandwiches and healthy snacks and the fresh produce side of the business which buys and sells fresh produce.
The company has many years of experience in importing and ripening bananas using trusted suppliers.
“A high percentage of bananas consumed in Sweden are organic, hence why we have been doing organic bananas and organic Fair Trade bananas for a while under the Daily Green brand. Having introduced the conventional bananas now in Sweden we are looking to introduce our brand into Europe.”
Daily Green bananas are supplied to the retailers, food service and wholesale markets. Ewerman is also doing its bit for the environment by reusing cardboard banana boxes.
