Avocados, Eden pears and pomegranates - each crop has its own specific cover. Azienda agricola Cairo e Doutcher, promoter of pomegranate cultivation in Italy, has always stood out thanks to its R&D and given great importance to the protection of crops such as avocados, pears and pomegranates.
“To support and protect our plants, we have been working with Valente from Campodarsego for years. The first solution we opted for was for the protection of avocadoes. We needed a company with extensive experience that could follow all phases from the design and supply of materials to setting up the structure. We required an elastic system in order to obtain a slope that favors the draining of water. In addition, the elastics help limit the movement caused by the wind, which is always present in our area. We also placed an anti-hail net at the top and, to limit wind strength, we closed the entire perimeter with a 30% windbreaker net," reads a company note.

“For apples and the new variety of Eden pears, we installed two Valente solutions both featuring single-thread nets. As these crops are organic, we opted for this system so that the nets reach the ground, thus protecting plants and fruits from insects and limiting the need for treatments."
“As for pomegranates, we used Valente solutions to protect the trees from the wind and hail. The structure is 3.5 m tall and features a grey anti-hail net to limit shading. The results are visible already from the first year, as grades are uniform and there is no rubbing or scalding damage, which are all fundamental aspects when it comes to the sale of fresh produce to big distribution chains.
