Tunisia: Fruit exports up 78% in value in 2021

Data released Wednesday by the Interprofessional Fruit Grouping (GIFruits) shows that Tunisian fruit exports expanded by 65% in volume to 46,500 tons and 78% in value to 134 million dinars (€41.5 mln) during 2021 when compared to 2020.

Libya has received the largest part of these goods, with 82% of fruit exports (39,800 tons), i.e. accounting for nearly 66% of the sector's revenues (88.4 million dinars), followed by Italy (3,800 tons), United Arab Emirates (1,100 tons) and France (1,100 tons).

Pomegranate and watermelon are Tunisia's most exported fruits during 2021 with more than 12,000 tons each, followed by peaches (9,200 thousand tons).
