Kashmir Valley vegetables make it to international market

To encourage vegetable exports and transform Kashmir into a vegetable basket, the Indian government plans to establish 63 Farmer-Producer Associations across the Valley.

The Agriculture Department reported that at least three consignments of vegetables grown in the Valley have already been shipped to Sharjah (in the UAE), with a fourth on the way.

Director of Agriculture Chowdhary Mohammad Younis said: “The goal is to expose Valley-based farmers to the international market and develop new avenues for the Valley’s rising greens."
