Sustainable Brazilian agricultural projects will have access to a new credit line approved last week by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). The resources of the credit operation, in the amount of US$ 1.2 billion, are destined to finance projects for the sustainable development of the agricultural production chains.
Part of these resources - US$ 230 million - will be applied by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (Mapa) in the Support Program for Agricultural Development in the Northeast (AgroNordeste). The money will be invested in the development of economic opportunities in agricultural value chains, in regularization land ownership and environmental activities.
The resources will also be used in AgroNordeste projects to expand the area free from fruit flies in Rio Grande do Norte and Ceará, and in the Consolidation of the Phytosanitary Protection Area for fruit flies in the region of Vale do São Francisco.
