The first Platanos de Canarias PGI bananas labeled with the special 'volcano' label have already reached the peninsula and are available to consumers in the usual greengrocers and supermarkets.
According to the Association of Banana Producer Organizations of the Canary Islands (ASPROCAN), the goal of this initiative is to help consumers identify the product and understand that the product might have aesthetic damage as a result of the ash emitted by the volcano of La Palma.
