Advertised prices for specialty crops at major retail supermarket outlets

This week's US ad numbers were lower, as many retailers opted to extend their ads after Thanksgiving rather than start a new ad cycle. Hannukah is in full swing and stores focused on offering potatoes, onions, grape juice, and carrots for holiday gatherings.

Winter citrus was very well featured this week; Texas grapefruit, clementines, Navel oranges, pummelos, lemons, limes, and tangerines shared the spotlight. Brussel's sprouts, avocados, grapes, berries, and asparagus were all abundantly promoted.

Total ad numbers this week were 288,224, a 4% decrease from last week's 301,474. Ad numbers this week were 7% lower than for the same week last year.

The total number of ads broken out by commodity groups: fruit 154,216 (54% of all ads), onions and potatoes 23,176 (8%), vegetables 105,086 (36%), herbs 1,238, ornamentals 4,508, and hemp 1,030. The number of ads for organic produce was 47,972, 17% of total ads.
