Alnatura sets a course for the future

New locations and major conversions are being planned

Alnatura continues to grow: the organic company from Darmstadt generated sales of 1.15 billion euros in the 2020/2021 financial year, which ended on Sept. 30, 2021, an increase of seven percent on the previous financial year. Alnatura founder and CEO Götz Rehn: "It was a good year for Alnatura, but not for climate protection. Because the climate crisis will remain a global threat if we humans do not succeed in redesigning the way we do business to a more holistic approach.

Five new Alnatura Super Natur stores were opened in Stuttgart, Offenburg, Hochheim, Freiburg and Berlin. In addition to these, there were investments in ten major remodels or expansions of existing stores. This increased the number of Alnatura stores to 140 in 13 German states in the past 2020/2021 financial year. The strongest state continues to be Baden-Württemberg with 33 Alnatura stores, followed by Bavaria (24), Berlin (19) and Hesse (19).

In the current financial year, new Alnatura stores have already opened or are in the planning stage in Eschborn, Singen, Schwerin, Frankfurt am Main, Braunschweig, Hildesheim and Bad Homburg, among others. At least nine other large-scale conversions are to be added.

In large cities in particular, many people are now doing without their cars, making an important contribution to climate protection. To ensure that organic groceries can still be conveniently transported home, 41 Alnatura locations currently have cargo bikes that can be borrowed free of charge and are actively used by customers.

New retail partner in Austria
In Austria, Alnatura has gained a new retail partner in the Unimarkt Group. The Alnatura range is now available in almost 400 additional stores in Austria. Another new retail partner is the Rohlik Group, which offers up to 900 Alnatura products in its online stores Knuspr and Gurkerl in Germany and Austria and Rohlik and Kifli in the Czech Republic and Hungary.
