The Sicilian Tarocco season has just begun

The Sicilian producers' organization Ecofarm is steadily moving forward with its successful harvest of persimmons, while it has also begun with the first orange harvests.

"We are still continuing the persimmon campaign, until the beginning of December, and in the meantime, we have started harvesting our prized oranges. These are the early Tarot TDV and Nucellare, which we started shipping a few days ago, but we are also ready with the varieties Ippolito, Moro, Tarocco Gallo, Tarocco Ippolito and Tarocco dolce VCR," said Maurizio Fiorenza, sales manager of the Sicilian producers’ organization.

"Beyond the production losses that we recorded because of the strong and repeated bad weather over all Sicily, we are selecting only the highest quality product to meet 100% of the demands of our Italian and foreign trade partners. Until the end of May 2022, we will have availability of the variety of Tarocco Meli. In terms of production volumes, we estimate for this season about 4 thousand tons available. In the next 2/3 years, they are destined to quadruple with the expansion of the plants already in place,” continued the manager.

Italy's Eco Farm OP guarantees consumers high quality oranges that are sweet, fragrant, good and guaranteed in terms of food safety.

"For some time now, consumer trends have been oriented towards healthy nutrition, and with the arrival of Covid, there has been a rush to buy products with a high content of the vitamin groups A, C and K contained in persimmons. Not to mention vitamin C in Sicilian oranges. The latter are extremely healthy because they are not treated like those imported from overseas. So, if the international fruit and vegetable market is a bit slow at the moment, also because of Covid, the products just mentioned never disappoint,” added Fiorenza.

"Our fruit is healthy and natural, ripe at the right point, from the juice to the peel, because it is not treated with waxes or other substances. We are always very careful about this, to the point that we offer our end customers the same quality and food safety that we choose for our families. Therefore, 100% natural, untreated products with edible peel".
